Rodrigo de la O

Rodrigo de la O settled in the coastal area of South Maule, in the seventh region of Chile, in 2004. He is Director of the Maule Itata Coastkeeper Program, the first Waterkeeper member in Chile (2009), founder of the citizen movement Acción Ciudadana Pro Maule Costero (2007), fighting against a proposed coal-fired power plant in central coast of Chile, and collaborator in the creation of new Waterkeeper programs. He has been a Latin American representative on the Waterkeeper Council since June 2015.

Publicist and designer by profession, Rodrigo specializes in local environmental management, positioning the concept of integration of the territory in local processes of environmental certification, disseminating the impacts associated with forest industries, and advising local communities affected.

He currently chairs the Regional Table on the Environment and Habitability in the South Maule coast, which develops its activities around campaigning, water monitoring, environmental education in local schools and community outreach.
