Heather joined Waterkeeper Alliance in 2016 as Grants Manager. Previously, she was a consultant for numerous environmental organizations specializing in development including fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations, as well as event planning and execution. Her clients have included Waterkeeper Alliance, Aquarium of the Pacific, Los Angeles Waterkeeper, the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Foundation, and others. Heather coordinated several Waterkeeper Alliance conferences, initiated the Waterkeeper Fundraising Bootcamp webinar series, and currently manages foundation grants and donor relations. Heather was Associate Director of the Santa Monica Baykeeper (now Los Angeles Waterkeeper) from 2001-2005, where she managed program and fundraising operations. She is an avid ocean swimmer, runner, and scuba diver, and served on the Board of Directors of Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF), a volunteer-based citizen science ocean conservation organization for four years. Heather holds a Bachelor of Science from UCLA and lives on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, where she gets outdoors and in the ocean as often as possible. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Oahu Waterkeeper Organization, founded in 2017.
