Chris Wilke

As your Puget Soundkeeper, Chris Wilke leads the advocacy efforts of one of the founding programs in the Waterkeeper movement. Chris and his staff have established an award-winning Clean Marina program and have settled precedent-setting stormwater pollution cases that help drive progress on this difficult issue nationwide.

A native of the Puget Sound region, Chris has a passion for the environment and all things aquatic. He grew up swimming, clamming and fishing in the cold waters of the Pacific Northwest, later becoming certified in SCUBA. Whether it’s his knowledge of salmon issues, his experience working on marine mammal research projects or his enthusiasm for the region’s diverse population of intertidal creatures, Chris is steeped in the science behind the Puget Sound story. When not at work protecting preserving Puget Sound, Chris can often be found on the water, sailing his sailboat “Blue Heron” or fly fishing Puget Sound’s rivers, lakes and saltwater beaches.
